XRP Ledger Activity Reaches Highest Level of 2025

New data from CryptoQuant shows XRP’s velocity surged to 0.0324 on December 2 — marking its fastest turnover rate of the year.

Velocity measures how frequently tokens move across the network. A spike of this magnitude signals that XRP is circulating rapidly rather than sitting dormant in wallets, suggesting stronger transactional engagement even as price momentum has softened.

Whales and Active Traders Boost Ledger Movements

The pickup in velocity hints that both retail holders and large addresses are repositioning their XRP during the current market environment. Network flows indicate tokens are shifting between wallets at a quicker pace, a trend typically linked to higher liquidity and more responsive trading behavior.

Instead of reflecting declining interest, the increased movement points to continued activity from users leveraging XRP for settlements, automated transactions, and strategic reallocations.

Activity Has Remained Strong Throughout 2025

CryptoQuant’s yearlong data shows consistently elevated ledger circulation, with the early December spike standing out against a backdrop of steady activity.

Notably, this uptick arrived while XRP continued sliding from its August high near $3.50, trading around $2.17 in early December. Historically, velocity spikes like this tend to occur when sentiment is mixed, as traders adjust their exposure during broader market pullbacks.

Strong Network Usage Despite Price Declines

The increase in velocity reinforces the continued utility of the XRP Ledger. Even as price pressure persisted, the network maintained heightened transaction throughput — a sign that XRP’s usage in settlement flows and operational activity remains robust.

Analysts note that when network activity stays strong during price declines, it often reflects deeper fundamental health. Sustained recoveries frequently begin with increased on-chain usage rather than immediate price reversals.
